Since 2022, we have been running a much revitalised Junior Programme with the help of volunteer members of our senior section and parents together with, of course, our dedicated coaches. Since 2022, we have been running a much revitalised Junior Programme with the help of volunteer members of our senior section and parents together with, of course, our dedicated coaches. Our aim has always been to promote badminton to a wide group of children aged 7+ with little or no prior experience. Encouraged by the vast experience of Head Coach Davy, we have successfully engaged with teachers and children demonstrating badminton in schools on several occasions. With the addition of Assistant Coach Tatjana on our team, we are able to provide additional basic training, enthusiastic coaching and motivation. Hence from December 2023, we have been able to introduce dedicated weekday training on both Wednesday and Friday afternoons and from January 2024, we have established a Sunday club session in addition to our Saturday session.

Our club sessions are where the juniors learn basic racket skills, play games, and socialise in a larger group. Our training sessions are designed for small groups with more intensive attention to training, developing skills, fitness and tactics.

Our training sessions are designed for small groups to include more focused training, developing skills, fitness and tactics. These are appropriate for children aged 9+ and do not require any previous experience, but it is a great advantage if your child is part of our junior club. These sessions are organised and coordinated by our two coaches Davy and Tatjana.
The monthly fees for attending these training sessions are €40 for 2 sessions per week for club members and €45 for non-club members and €20 for 1 session per week for club members and €25 for non-club members.
The training sessions take place at Emba High School sportshall.

Our club sessions are where the juniors learn basic racket skills, play games, and socialise in a larger group. These are appropriate for age 7+ and do not require any experience. Our club sessions are voluntary based and we encourage parents and members of our senior club to help organise and volunteer during these sessions. In some cases, where the youngest juniors take part, we ask parents to be available at the hall.
The fee for four club sessions a month is €15 per month, €35 for 3 months, €60 for 6 months or €100 for one year (our membership year runs from November to October).
The club sessions take place at the sportshall at Apostolos Andreas Gymnasium in Emba.

As part of the Cyprus Badminton Federation, we actively seek to participate in tournaments throughout the year. Each tournament is organised within the appropriate age groups: Under 11, Under 13 and so on. In addition, we organise fun tournaments with other clubs in Cyprus. We encourage our juniors to participate in such events, only as and when they are ready. Whilst it is competitive, it is also a lot of fun, a great team experience and helps understanding what is required to compete. It is expected that parents take turns in driving to these events and help with any practical issues on the day.
On several occasions during the year, we will organise fun social game time at the hall, where all juniors from both club sessions and training sessions are invited. On several occasions during the year, we will organise fun social game time at the hall, where all juniors from both club sessions and training sessions are invited. These usually take place at Easter, around Back to School and again at Xmas. In addition, our enthusiastic volunteers organise social outings for everyone. Last year, for example, we offered pizza/bowling kayaking, picnic and outdoor air badminton. We strongly encourage parents to support these initiatives and come up with new ideas and activities and perhaps help in organising.

Our Training Group received an invitation to visit the local badminton club in Polis
Chrysochous. On Saturday 9 December 2023, our coaches, Davy and Tatjana,
along with some very supportive parents, travelled from Paphos to Polis. Nine junior members of the training group enjoyed a social morning and some really competitive play with the juniors at that club. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to play against and with some complete strangers. They all got on really well and had a great time. Afterwards they enjoyed a light lunch at a local taverna. We offer our sincere thanks to the Polis club for hosting us and we hope to be able to return the favour in the near future.

In an effort to prepare our young badminton players for the upcoming U11 National tournament, Emba Badminton Club and Cosmopolis worked closely together to set up a fun tournament in a relaxed environment. This event took place in Limassol on Saturday 21st of October.

In an effort to prepare our young badminton players for the upcoming U11 National tournament, Emba Badminton Club and Cosmopolis worked closely together to set up a fun tournament in a relaxed environment. This event took place in Limassol on Saturday 21st of October.
Five different badminton clubs from Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca were invited to attend and in total 22 young promising athletes took part in this all day event. Emba Badminton Club was represented by 14 juniors, 5 of whom are preparing to join the U11 Nationals in Nicosia on 4th of November.
As our coach Davy explained: ‘All our players are new to badminton, they are all
very young and eager to learn and improve. These sort of events not only improve their skills on court, they are essential for mental preparation to join tournaments where each point will be hard fought. Finally, it is a fantastic way to enhance teamwork and get to know other young players from other clubs'.

Today the 28th of May marks the 1 year anniversary of our re-launched Junior Badminton Club. With the help and dedication of our senior members, we initially hosted an Open Day event which was attended by some 10 juniors. Going from strength to strength, we now have a steady group of 16-20 regular juniors who enjoy many fun badminton related games, with and without rackets, during our Saturday morning sessions. As a surprise to all our juniors, we arranged for the Ice Cream Van to be at our Car Park yesterday for 10:00 when our session concluded - juniors, parents and senior members were treated to a nice soothing ice cream on this warm sunny day. Emba's Junior Coach and six volunteers from the club show cased badminton to eight groups of 15 enthusiastic 11 year olds each day. The children were eager to learn new skills and after only a short time were all successfully hitting the shuttles back over the net to the volunteers. It is a fantastic, well organised initiative and a great way to introduce the sport to many new children.

During the last two weekends our two young players Harry and Tharul - 14 and 15 years old - have been travelling across Cyprus to play badminton. Firstly, they represented Emba at the Cosmopolis Challengers Tournament in Limassol, which was of a very high standard attended by some of the top national players in Cyprus. They agreed to treat this tournament as a WarmUp event prior to the Aetoi U17, which took place on the weekend of 5th/6th of May. What is very impressive about both young players is that they enjoy the challenges, they join in with a lot of enthusiasm and they keep asking for ways to improve. Let's hope they stay focused and keep up their high spirits.

A very warm welcome to Davy Rodgers, who has agreed to join Emba Badminton Club as our new Junior Coach. With Davy's immense experience, ability and down to earth approach, this is great news for the continuation of our programme. As a non-profit organisation, we rely upon a committed group of volunteers to help out at each training session. During the past year, we have established a loyal team to support our juniors and coupled with Davy's approach and input we look forward to further development. Our Junior Club continues to be popular and we have reached maximum capacity. This means we now have a waiting list for any new juniors who wish to join our club. A total of 12 juniors and 4 adults, divided into a number of appropriate groups, competed in a fun badminton competition at Emba on Saturday December 17th. A total of 12 juniors and 4 adults, divided into a number of appropriate groups, competed in a fun badminton competition at Emba on Saturday December 17th. With club members assisting with organising the games and with scoring, the spectators were treated to a number of exciting and close matches. For an hour the players battled it out for hard fought points until the eventual winners emerged. Gold and silver medals were presented to the first and second players in each group whilst every junior member of the club received an Emba badminton t-shirt. There was a special presentation and a huge round of applause for coach Don for organising the event and a huge thanks must go to all the players, volunteers and spectators who helped make the event such a huge success.

Today marked the start of a new era at Emba Badminton Club. Several excited juniors and their parents joined our Open Day event. All juniors took part in various games and fun activities with and without rackets. We now look forward to welcoming juniors (age 7+) to our club for weekly training sessions - every Saturday 08:30-10:00.

Our wish at EBC is to promote badminton to a wider audience. We understand that as a member of the Cyprus Badminton Federation it is a clear goal and requirement to nurture new young talent, to widely promote badminton, and to participate actively in any tournaments in the future.

Focus on Junior Training (Age 7+)
Following several requests from parents and children, we are delighted to start our Junior Training Programme in May with the support of volunteers from our club. In order to engage with as many interested children as possible we will host an Open Day Event on 21st of May to introduce our programme in more detail.
